As I smelled the cap of the bottle containing this oil, I inquisitively asked the distiller what region it was from, as I could not quite place it and was in slightly unknown territory, especially with this kind of opening.  The reply came instantly: Pailin, Cambodia, bordering Thailand.  The Pailin region is a relatively unknown region for producing Oud and more famous for its gemstone mining operations.

This oil has a very distinctive opening starting with a strong incense smoke accompanied by a hint of citrus that fades away after a while.  Seamlessly, the classic Cambodian notes and tones start piercing through the deep dry fruity and leather opening.  This is followed by a stunning musky powdery dry down and a slight hint of Patchouli that mimic the effects of finer perfumes in the dry-down.

Now for the bad part.  This oil is one I really regret not purchasing straight away when offered by the distiller because I was thrown by the difference due to the origin and I am always careful when buying oils to ensure that only high-grade and pure oils make it into my collection.  My hesitancy was a huge mistake as we do not have much of it to offer our customers and when it is sold out, it truly will be history.  If you are a connoisseur of fine Cambodis, do not make the same mistake as me and hesitate, otherwise you may end up regretting it later.
